Swimming Pool Air Source Heat Pump Essex
A fantastic solution for heating your swimming pool. There are two options that can be considered.
Firstly a hybrid system which will mean that your pool will be initially heated via a conventional gas or oil boiler, and then an air source heat pump to maintain the ongoing temperature.
Secondly an air source heat pump can be used as the primary heat source, which means that your swimming pool can be converted over from gas or oil to a much more efficient system. This is dependant on certain criteria’s being met, and we would need to carry out a full survey to establish the scope of works.
There is also the option to combine PV solar with a swimming pool air source heat pump, ultimately offering even larger savings, and reducing your carbon footprint even further.
Are Air Source Heat Pumps Efficient?
Air source heat pumps are a fantastic way to help lower your carbon footprint; how much it is lowered by will depend on what you are replacing. If your existing system is oil or coal then the CO2 you will save is much more then if it’s a natural gas boiler. Whilst a heat pump is efficient it does still require some electricity to run, there are ways of lowering the usage of electricity by incorporating a PV Solar system as part of your installation. However this is not essential, and can also be added at a later date if required.

Pros & Cons Of An Air Source Heat Pump
ADVANTAGES
- You are likely to save money on your heating and hot water in comparison to an older system.
- Much less disruptive then installing a ground source heat pump, especially if it is being retrofitted.
- An air to water heat pump can qualify for a grant under the Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS)
- More energy efficient then older systems, thus generating less CO2 and lowering your carbon footprint.
DISADVANTAGES
- Condenser units can be a little noisy and within the area immediately around them they can blow colder.
- Space is required in your garden for the condenser unit.
- Electricity is still required to run your air source heat pump, so on its own it is not zero carbon, but can be incorporated with PV Solar.
